DEEP SURFACES
EXPLORING DEEP 3-D TEXTURES, MATERIAL ROUGHNESS AND LITHOPHYTIC GROWTH
This series tests means of digital texture application onto surfaces. It speculates how qualities of variation, material depth and roughness could make space for living matter. Crevices, cracks, folds and pockets allow debris and organic matter to accumulate over time. Spontaneously, plants and animals begin to occupy these voids and new aesthetic and experiential qualities emerge.
